What's Hot? Rue Saint Augustin
Written by Priscilla Lalisse
image03issue_five.jpgRue Saint Augustin, located near metro Quatre September is a great place to know about here in Paris. On this rue you can find a wide variety of restaurants and shops. Here are some of our favorites!

La Fontaine Gaillon

This swanky restaurant sits right in the square that crosses Saint Augustin with an enormous fountain. It’s quite impressive and delicious. A little pricey, but the food and atmosphere compensate for it.

Book OffBook Off

Want to feel like you’re in Tokyo while in the heart of Paris? Then check out this Japanese bookstore, and don’t be intimated either. The staff is ultra friendly and even if you don’t speak a word of Japanese, it’s quite cool to just browse the books, comics, Dvds and Cds. In addition to the Japanese items, there is a selection of French and English titles too.

Another nice thing about Book Off? You can sell your English books, Dvds (zone 2 only) and Cds there! Spring-cleaning anyone?

Rose Lilas

Oh la la la la ! We were in heaven when we found this nail shop. We were used to paying so much more €€€ in the 8th but no more! Fake nails? They do it. Pedicure, manicures, massages, waxing? Yes, they do it. The prices are tres raisonable, heck, downright cheap compared to some other places we’ve tried. The cherry on the top is that they’re open late every day (until 11 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Sundays). A nail shop open after 7 p.m. and even on Sundays? Need I say more???

Opera Droguerie Opera Droguerie

My friend Leslie from Chicago loves this store and so do I. It has plenty of cute household items. If you’re looking for a nice present to offer someone, or something for yourself of course, this could be your place. It’s nice just to look around too. Some of the items are quite original!

Okinawa

This Japanese restaurant is a great place to have lunch after you’ve done your shopping and gotten your nails done. The Kotobuki (mushroom and zucchini sticks) is tasty. For you raw fish lovers (I stick to the sticks!) there’s no lack of it and from the empty plates of other Prissy Mag staff members, I’d wager it’s delicious too! Staff members especially recommended the Okinawa special (for two people). Hey, I didn’t taste it, but it sure looked good. I’m still working my way up to that…

*Worth the extra steps

Restaurant Noodle #1

“Noodle 1” is not located on rue Saint Augustin, but extremely near. Keep going until you reach rue Saint Anne. Take a right onto the street and walk until you get to Noodle 1 which is located on the left at #54.

This place is so good and so cheap. Don’t get the appetizer and the main dish unless you are quite hungry because the servings are healthy. We highly recommend the nems (eggrolls)!
