UPDATE: On October 6, the Swiss Justice Ministry announced that Roman Polanski will not be granted bail. Folco Galli, a spokesman for the Ministry, stated that the main reason for the denial of bail is the high risk that Polanski would again flee ahead of extradition procedures. NO KIDDING.
Meanwhile, not all Hollywood heavyweights are backing Polanski. Former movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger, now Governor of California, stated that Polanski should "be treated like everyone else."
September 27 The American courts reached out its long hand of justice and were finally able to obtain what it’s wanted for over 30 years: the arrest of French filmmaker Roman Polanski for raping a 13 year old girl back in 1978 and then fleeing the U.S. On September 26, Polanski was arrested by Swiss police at Zürich Airport while trying to enter the country to attend the Zurich Film Festival to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award. That has of course been scraped and he is now fighting extradition. The French are divided on his arrest. More to come after we've talked to a few...
