The Salon d'Agriculture kicked off it's 81st year last Saturday in Paris at Porte de Versailles. I braved the crowds to go for the first time since I've been living here...and I wasn't disappointed.
Especially fun were the cows and horses of course...the pigs were even cute. Your little ones, among a ton of other things, can play chef, and also find out how to make yogurt from Danone. If you get hungry, the restaurant Drouant is especially good and inexpensive in comparison to nearby restaurants. The adult menu is €16.80 while the menu for kids costs €10.50.
Besides all the animals, one of the real treats was discovering a bit of the "outre -mer" culture, meaning New Caledonia, Tahiti, Martinique and Guadeloupe. There are an enormous amounts of products to buy and sample. Don't miss the "Ti Punch" (maybe at the end of the day, as it does bring on a case of sudden tiredness).
Salon d'Agriculture , now until March 1.

Your first thought is, "Who wants to go look at cows?" But hey, if all the French president's can go and hang out for a couple of hours, I thought I could too. Besides, it's tradition. You brave the metro. The people. The large halls. The smell. And in the end, you're happy to have participated.
