Question: Thank you for your May newsletter about the endorsement of the B&B industry by the Paris City Hall. This has of course stirred up quite a lot of interest and questions/doubts.
OK I have eventually succumbed to writing about fashion. It is too difficult a subject to ignore when living in Paris and we all know that fashion plays a big part in the attraction of LA VIE PARISIENNE, and don’t we love it.
On October 4, 2000 Alabama lost one of its most extraordinary citizens, and the world lost a tower of a man. Born in April 1919 in Loachapoka (Lee County) Alabama, Harry Heard moved to Heflin with his family when he was 11 years old. He went on to work at the Planter Mill for 60 years. I can still remember him walking back across the highway and eating a lunch that my grandmother had prepared, and then walking back to his job. He had said he wasn’t paid much, but that a man had to work.
After your long flight to the City of Light, head straight to a cafe to enjoy a French cup of Joe or a glass of wine. You need to stay awake. If you are coming from the United States, you will be tempted to go to sleep but force yourself to assimilate to the local French time.
