Welcome to the first issue of Prissy Mag, a webzine based on every day life here in the delightful city of Paris. Our mission is to show you what living in Paris is really like, and we're bringing it to you straight from the eyes of expats (for lack of a better word) who do live here and consider themselves ?real" Parisians.

I decided to launch Prissy Mag for two reasons: one, I love Paris, and two, I love writing. I've been doing it since my mother put me in white patent leather shoes. I was the secretary at Sunday School when I was nine and loved taking the minutes and proudly reading them off at the end of the service. However, my real encouragement didn't come until I was 15 and in the 1Oth grade in high school.

My then teacher, Mrs. Pam Payne, placed a torn out magazine advertisement on the board featuring a sleek sports car with a gorgeous hunk inside it, and asked us to write about it. My imagination went wild, and that guy ended up headed to a slick date with another gorgeous being and my teacher loved it. Maybe she was a romantic? Needless to say, a funny, fabulous, exciting, titillating and international writer was born ... well, not all that, but I'm ever hopeful.

Fast forward to adult life. I got my Bachelors and Masters Degrees both in English, from a great school in Tennessee called Austin Peay State University. I taught English as a Second Language in South Korea for a year before completing my degrees.

After I got my Masters, I moved to New York City and worked as an editor for two computer magazines (C++ Report and JOOP) and how I loved NY! But, I do love adventure too, so I moved to Paris. Once here, I taught both Corporate and General English for five years all the while still working on various editing and writing projects. I still dream about the present perfect versus the past perfect, but at least my grammar skills are pretty good.

Before Prissy Mag I published my first novel STOCKDALE, and I wrote for some other wonderful online magazines - some of them based on all things French, such as Bonjour Paris, Café de la Soul, and Paris Woman Journal, where my sometimes very personal articles chronicled the French experience through American eyes.

My goal here at Prissy Mag is to continue doing just that-showing you what it?s truly like as an Anglophone (American in my case) to live in Paris. We locals know all the inside places to hit of course, but also much more. For instance, if you?ve ever wondered what it?s like to be an artist here, have a baby, get your hair done, pay your light bill, or fall in and out of love in this beautiful city, then you?re definitely in the right place. These are just a few of the experiences we?ll be showing you, but trust me, we've got enough to keep you coming back for years!

So, I hope to see you here every week. I'm sure you won't regret it!

Best wishes,
