 If you're a fan of Victor Hugo, then you should visit his apartment. Between 1832 and 1848, Hugo lived on the second floor of the former Hôtel de Rohan-Guéménee, situated in the Place des Vosges. He was 30 when he moved in with his wife and four children. By the way, it's free to get in!
The author wrote parts of several of his best-known works here (Les Chants du Crépuscule, Les Voix Intérieures, a large part of Les Misérables, the beginning of La Légende des Siècles and Contemplations). In the apartment, which has now become a museum, each room is dedicated to a period of the artist's life: documents, photos and furniture harmonise to retrace the life of this great figure of French literature from childhood memories to the faithful reconstruction of his death chamber.
It felt a little bit eerie being in the apartment, but it was nice to visit it. Get there, if you can...
