I finally made it over to Canal Saint Martin after all these years, and I must say....it's quite lovely. I got off the metro at Republic, swung a right, and found it without any trouble.

The canal, which is 4.5 km long is absolutely work checking out. History says the canal was opened in 1825 after Napoleon had ordered the artificial waterway dug to supply Paris with water.

A good place for a picnic? Maybe...but it definitely makes for a nice

Parisian walk.
