Profile of an Artist: Shirin Neshat, Video Maker and Artist
Written by Francis H. Powell
0001iran.jpgIran was in the news last year, for political reasons. Some even saw it as a country living in the shadow of war. I am presented with the chance of seeing the work of an Iranian artist. There is quite a lot of activity when I arrive at the Galerie Jerome de Noirmont. The work mostly comprises of large scale photographs of people. What makes the pieces different is the fact they also contain, in the background some kind of writing in Iranian (I presume). At the end of the gallery there is a line of people. I discover they are all waiting to go upstairs to watch a video. My curiosity leads me to join the line and in time I am ushered upstairs. I am not really sure what I am going to see. Indeed I have same feeling a person who has who arrives at a cinema late and the film has already started, you have to try to make sense of what you have missed.

Profile of an Artist: Norma Trosman, Painter
Written by Francis H. Powell
01issue_25_norma_.jpgI met Norma Trosman, on New years Eve, at a small party she held in her Atelier. Norma is from Argentina, but has lived a long time in Paris, working as a professional painter. Spend even a small amount of time with Norma and you will soon discover she is a woman who lives and breathes for painting. She could be called a paintaholic, if such a word existed. I have tried on a number of occasions to photograph her work. I have come to the conclusion Norma is some kind perfectionist.

Profile of an Artist: Hunter, Christian Hip Hop Star
Written by Priscilla Lalisse

image00001issue_18_new_issue_new_issue_here_here.jpgChristian Hip Hop has really taken off and has amassed a large following back in the U.S. Could it soon be coming to Paris? The French are already in love with black gospel. Could Christian Hip Hop be next?

Prissy Mag was fortunate to run across a Christian hip hop or gospel rap artist, all the way from my home state of Alabama.

Going by the name of "Hunter", this young man has mad skills and has been doing this for over a year. His songs are catchy and his lyrics, which emphasize his faith, are meaningful. The tune you gotta listen to? "Naw it Ain´t."

Check it out on his myspace page then check out what this inspirational rapper had to tell us.

Profile of an Artist: Anna Stein, Painter & Scultptor
Written by Priscilla Lalisse

anna steinI was walking down the halls of the passage de Choiseul located in the 2nd district of Paris when I unexpectedly came across this fine artist's work. I was transfixed by images I could see through the glass windows of her gallery, and I stopped and pulled out my notebook and pen. Anna Stein saw me and came outside and asked me what I was doing. When I told her, she invited me in and shared more of her art with me. I was quite simply delighted.

Profile of an Artist: Morgan Auger, Singer
Written by Priscilla Lalisse

RMorgan Augeremember Star Ac 4? Okay, now think back to the talented guy who sang songs from Elvis. You probably remember him only as "Morgan," but today Morgan Auger is in the process of making his entire name known. With a style and voice as smooth as Josh Groban, Morgan is a dynamic singer bringing it to us in both French and English. Prissy Mag recently caught up with him as he prepares to take the United States and France by storm.

PM: What was it like being on Star Academy? I remember seeing you on the show and commenting on how good you are!

MA:This image was mainly for visual effect and it's really a caricature. The production department had to give me a stereotype.
