Iran was in the news last year, for political reasons. Some even saw
it as a country living in the shadow of war. I am presented with the
chance of seeing the work of an Iranian artist. There is quite a lot
of activity when I arrive at the Galerie Jerome de Noirmont. The work
mostly comprises of large scale photographs of people. What makes the
pieces different is the fact they also contain, in the background some
kind of writing in Iranian (I presume). At the end of the gallery
there is a line of people. I discover they are all waiting to go
upstairs to watch a video. My curiosity leads me to join the line and
in time I am ushered upstairs. I am not really sure what I am going to
see. Indeed I have same feeling a person who has who arrives at a
cinema late and the film has already started, you have to try to make
sense of what you have missed.

Who: Julien, age 28 (almost), business analyst for a luxury goods company.
PM: Where are you from originally?
JD: Angers. It’s a medium-sized city, 300 km from Paris in the south west. But I have worked and live in Paris for a few years now, after having lived in Normandy for seven years.

Marvin Brooks is my cousin, but I didn't know him or that he was my cousin before he called me this week to tell me. It's not often that one gets a call from a family member to say, "Yeah, I'm here in Paris, living and working." Sure, you get calls all the time saying that family members are coming to visit, but actually having someone from your family living here, well, that's quite freaky, especially if you've never ever met them.
After getting past that initial surprise and then tracing our family ancestors, I found out that Marvin, cousin or not, needed to be in Prissy Mag! He's an amazing person who has just landed in Paris and already gone to some of the city's hottest fashion shows. Besides that, he used to work at Prada. How could we not talk to him? Shoot! I'm not afraid of a little nepotism.

I met Norma Trosman, on New years Eve, at a small party she held in her Atelier. Norma is from Argentina, but has lived a long time in Paris, working as a professional painter. Spend even a small amount of time with Norma and you will soon discover she is a woman who lives and breathes for painting. She could be called a paintaholic, if such a word existed. I have tried on a number of occasions to photograph her work. I have come to the conclusion Norma is some kind perfectionist.

Christian Hip Hop has really taken off and has amassed a large following back in the U.S. Could it soon be coming to Paris? The French are already in love with black gospel. Could Christian Hip Hop be next?
Prissy Mag was fortunate to run across a Christian hip hop or gospel rap artist, all the way from my home state of Alabama.
Going by the name of "Hunter", this young man has mad skills and has been doing this for over a year. His songs are catchy and his lyrics, which emphasize his faith, are meaningful. The tune you gotta listen to? "Naw it Ain´t."
Check it out on his myspace page then check out what this inspirational rapper had to tell us.
