Ask Madame!

askmadame.jpgDear Madame,

I moved here last December from California and I've been looking for a French girlfriend. Question: Is it normal for French women not to shave under their armpits…and elsewhere?

I have gone out with no less than five of them since I got here, and I can tell you they are full of hair! Arms, legs, armpits, etc. That's just plain gross to me. Do they even know what waxing is?

Signed,

Not liking it at le Bastille

Dear Not liking it,

Yes, it is quite normal for some French women not to shave. Yes, it is normal for an American man to find this disgusting. But, my American friend, you are not in Cali anymore. It is a well known fact that European women do not shave as much as others. If you find it so gross I suggest you hit the internet and find a clean shaven American but, alas, you will miss out on meeting some wonderful French women in the process. Do you seriously think an over abundance of hair on a woman changes who she is? If so, you would be more vain than most Americans think French people are.

Dear Madame,

My ex and I get along well and we share custody of our two kids. I'm English, he's French. His new girlfriend is also French and I think she wants to be friends with me. Is that normal? I mean, she's never called and invited me to dinner or anything, but she did send me an invitation for her Facebook page.

Signed,

Wondering

Dear Wondering,

Consider yourself lucky! Most ex’s are not so amicable, let alone their newest love interest. If you don’t think there is an agenda then enjoy the fact that you and your ex will still be able to raise your children without drama. If you think there is an agenda then live by the words of Sun Tzu, “Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer”.

Dear Madame,

We recently had a party at work and I took my boyfriend. One of my co-workers proceeded to flirt with him all night…or try to flirt with him. He was so taken aback and embarrassed that we literally had to leave early. I wanted to confront her, but my boss was there and I didn't want to make a scene. Now that we're back at work, she's acting like nothing happened. Tramp! How should I deal with this?

Signed,

Ready to fight in the 8th

Dear Ready to fight,

You cannot control a tramp. However, you can take comfort in knowing that your boyfriend was just as appalled as you. The tramp failed. Confronting her will only encourage her and make you look like competition. Tramps love competition. Don’t give her a reason to try again.
